Adam Olsen proud to stand beside David Suzuki
Sidney, B.C. - David Suzuki endorsed Adam Olsen, BC Green Party Candidate for Saanich North and the Islands, at the ȽÁU, WELṈEW̱ Tribal School in Brentwood Bay last night.
"I was incredibly honoured and humbled by one of Canada's most prominent voices on environmental issues, endorse my candidacy," says Olsen. "David's wisdom has influenced a generation I have a tremendous amount of respect for him."
The evening was themed around the Malahat LNG project and the threat to the Saanich Inlet. Chief Don Tom of Tsartlip, Adam Olsen, and David Suzuki all spoke about the importance of the inlet and of having sound environmental policy. The Chief also endorsed Adam Olsen and the vision of the BC Greens.
“It was a very humbling evening," says Olsen. "In August of 2015, when Malahat First Nation and Steelhead LNG announced that they were going to be putting a proposal together to put a gas liquefaction plant in the Saanich Inlet, I stood up and said no, this project will never happen. Don was right there with me from the beginning and I am honoured to have his endorsement.”
“Adam Olsen has stood with me and opposed both the Steelhead LNG and Kinder Morgan projects from day one," says Chief Don Tom "His passion and conviction for our home have convinced me we need him as our MLA. That's why I'm fully behind him and it's why our Council has endorsed him.'”
Over 200 people attended the event.
Suzuki is traveling British Columbia making appearances and offering support to many of the BC Green Party candidates, during this final week of the provincial election.
