Saltspring Island Pride

Rally in Protest / March with Pride

with Adam Olsen and Elizabeth May at Salt Spring Island's 12th Annual Pride Parade

This year, parade organizers are tapping into the activist roots of the pride movement. The event is called “Out-Rage-Us: A Carnival of Pride and Protest!” The following is from their Facebook page:

“This year, we are asking people to show us what and who they are marching for. Come with your messages of love, pride, protest, and politics!

Show your trans and queer pride, your allied love for trans and queer people, your grief for Orlando, your solidarity with Black Lives Matter, your fight for an end to violence against women, your passion for environmental justice, your commitment to decolonization and justice for Indigenous peoples...all those deeply held truths and commitments you hold in your heart and which are all essential to justice and community.”

In short, Green Party values in action!

When & Where: Saturday September 10th - 12 noon  We meet in front of Ganges Public Library, 129 McPhillips Ave View Map

Salt Spring Pride encourages all people to walk together in support of diversity! Join in the fun and show that Greens of all shades stand for positive change in Canadian society.

Last year we had an excellent turnout of Green volunteers and supporters from Salt Spring and Vancouver Island, and with your help, this year we’ll have even more.

All participants are encouraged to share what they’re marching for. We will have fill-in-the-blank placards and markers for you to write your reason for marching, then carry during the march. Whether that's action on climate change, a more equitable society, or keeping LNG tankers out of the Saanich Inlet, this is an opportunity to get people thinking about the issues we face. We ask that you bring your smiles and your friends and wear a splash of green.

First time at Salt Spring Pride? This is a fabulous and truly unique community event you won’t find anywhere else: 100% non-commercial & fully people-powered (no engines) - the spirit of love and inclusion is truly uplifting!
