Over the past 24 hours I have been asked several times about the status of the B.C. Green Party leadership. I was appointed Interim-Leader by the Provincial Council in August 2013. I committed to fulfill this role until the Party membership elected a full-time leader. Yesterday, Andrew Weaver confirmed that when the Party holds the election he will "throw his hat in the race".
When I took the job I understood that I could not be a candidate in the leadership race, it is disallowed in the Party bylaws.
This has been the most amazing experience of my life. I am honoured to work with the B.C. Green team and I am thrilled with the growth we have seen over the past 17 months.
The Party will hold a leadership race in 2016. We have invested a lot of effort to create an organization to support Andrew, and hopefully many more MLA's in the future. Over the next year we will continue to put every effort in building the Green community.
Once a new leader is elected I will work for the Party in whatever capacity they require of me and I will seek the Green Party nomination for Saanich North & the Islands in 2017.
We will organize a strong, innovative and exciting campaign team in the coming months and begin preparations for the next general election. I have reflected on my connection to the territory represented by the boundaries of Saanich North & the Islands and I am excited about the opportunity once again to ask for the confidence of the people of this amazing plac
